Lighting the Way: Patrick’s Journey of Love, Legacy, and Leadership

At fourteen years old, Patrick Levitsky has already proven that the next generation of philanthropists is ready to make an extraordinary impact. Inspired by the memory of his cousin, Johnny, Patrick, with his family’s support, has spent the past five years transforming grief into generosity – raising more than $15,000 for Fred’s Footsteps and helping other families facing unimaginable challenges.

Patrick’s connection to Fred’s Footsteps began in 2019, when his cousin, Johnny, was supported by our organization. Though Johnny passed away in 2020, his spirit has lived on through his family and Patrick’s tireless efforts to keep his memory shining bright.

“I am raising money for Fred’s Footsteps because they helped my cousin and his family so much through a very rough time,” Patrick shared. “I love Johnny, and I carry him with me each day. Keeping his memory alive drives me to do my best every day.”

Over the years, Patrick has honored Johnny through a variety of creative fundraisers – from a two-mile swim to his “30 Days for Johnny” fitness challenge, inspiring friends and family to move with purpose throughout the month of November.

Most recently, his passion reached new heights through Johnny and Emmie’s Climb for a Cause, a community fundraiser at the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse – a place with deep meaning to the DiBona family and to our Fred’s Footsteps legacy. In a beautiful full-circle moment, the lighthouse was actually a beloved attraction of our namesake, G. Fred DiBona, Jr. and his family, who frequently visited this very lighthouse on their many family vacations to Jupiter, Florida.

Patrick joined efforts with fellow high schoolers, Micah Cahill and Alistor Poyner to plan the event, which took place on Nov. 2, 2025. It brought together local students, families, and community members to raise funds for both Fred’s Footsteps and local organization, Little Smiles, who works to bring joy to children navigating serious illnesses. The event raised an impressive $11,453 which will be split between our two organizations!

At Fred’s Footsteps, we are deeply grateful to Patrick, his family, his teammates, and everyone who carries Johnny’s light forward. Together, they are proof that love endures, kindness multiplies, and one young person’s spark can illuminate an entire community.
