Fred’s Footsteps Mourns the Loss of Founding Board Member Walter D'Alessio
Walter D'Alessio, a dedicated and distinguished member of the Fred’s Footsteps Board of Directors and Advisory Committee for over 15 years, has passed away at the age of 90.

“We are deeply saddened by the loss of Walter D’Alessio, a dear friend of my husband, Fred” said Sylvia DiBona, Fred’s Footsteps Board Chair. “He was a fervent advocate for urban development and economic growth, and his work touched the lives of countless individuals. Fred’s Footsteps would not be in existence today if it weren’t for a conversation he and I had shortly after Fred’s death in 2005. Walt came to me to direct a donation in memory of Fred and I couldn’t even begin to think about a recipient. It was Walt’s idea to start a foundation in Fred’s memory using that seed money; he was instrumental in helping us garner support in the early days of the organization. His contributions and commitment to our mission were unparalleled, and we will forever be grateful for his guidance and support.”

“Walter’s legacy is one of extraordinary professional achievement and unwavering dedication to the community,” said Christine DiBona Lobley, Executive Director of Fred’s Footsteps. “His role in founding Fred’s Footsteps demonstrated his compassionate spirit and commitment to supporting families of medically fragile children in the Philadelphia region. Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family during this difficult time.”
