Guests returned to Urban Outfitters, Inc. at the Navy Yard for boardwalk-themed appetizers, dinner, and dancing – including a fry bar, URBN Shop 543’s spin on the corn dog, funnel cake, and fudge! There were also some Shore favorites like Shriver’s saltwater taffy and Johnson’s popcorn. Attendees enjoyed signature drinks by 13th Street Cocktails, aptly named by the creative team at Brian Communications. (Our favorite was the “Congress Hall Last Call”).
The “Wall of Wine” pull featured a fun twist: rubber duckies à la the boardwalk carnival game. Caricaturists were on hand to draw guests and add to the fun, as was the old-fashioned photo booth. And what’s a boardwalk without some shopping? Guests were invited to shop the Fred’s merch store, with all proceeds benefiting our mission. The venue sparkled this year with strung market lights by Revolution Event Production and summery florals from The Bouquet Shop. An interactive boardwalk backdrop complete with life-sized cutouts of our families invited guests to engage with our mission.
The Silent Auction was a huge hit with items spanning health & beauty to sports. In fact, the competition was fierce for the Brandon Graham signed Eagles jersey!
This year’s program included a live auction with new Board Member, Mike Venerra’s backyard wood-oven pizza night taking top billing. The program also highlighted the story of Kellen and his mom, Corrine, of Newark, Delaware. In the video, Corrine candidly shared the financial and emotional toll of caring for her medically-complex child – and what a huge relief Fred’s Footsteps provided in the form of a safe and accessible shower for the family.
The night concluded with lively dancing courtesy of DJ Howard of Empower Event Group.
