A matching gift is when a person donates to a non-profit organization and their employer donates an equal or greater amount to the same non-profit.
A matching gift can be a great way for you to double or triple your initial donation – just by following your employer’s matching gift procedures. Some companies match the gifts of spouses, retirees, and surviving spouses of retirees in addition to gifts from current employees. Some companies also offer donations via payroll deduction, so we receive your donation and their matching gift in one lump sum.
Doubling the impact of your gift to support families with medically complex children is as easy as following the steps below:
Check with your employer (or spouse’s employer) to learn of their matching gift program and how to apply for a matching gift.
Complete the required forms and submit to your employer. Most companies complete this electronically and will update you as to the status of your matching gift application.
Contact Marie Vacca at marie@fredsfootsteps.org or (494) 368-3602 x104 if you have any questions or need assistance.
Once your gift is approved, your employer will send the match directly to Fred’s Footsteps.
