The boots were sparkling, the Stetsons were aplenty, and the belt buckles were fastened for Party in the Yard on March 9, 2024. This year’s western rodeo theme brought out the inner cowboy in everyone, all for a great cause. It was a rip-roaring good time as we welcomed 450 guests to Urban Outfitters, Inc. at the Navy Yard. And the best part? We raised $328,000 to support our mission of providing financial assistance to families in the Philadelphia region caring for a sick, injured, or disabled child.
The energy was buoyant, despite the rain, as guests arrived. Those brave riders who took the (mechanical) bull by the horns were a sight to behold! But the excitement didn’t stop there. With an old-timey photo booth capturing timeless memories, the Wall of Wine, “BBQ Bonanza” raffle, and silent auction to peruse, there was no shortage of fun in this rustic roundup. And we can’t forget the delicious food by URBN and the one-of-a-kind cocktails (and a mocktail) courtesy of 13th Street Cocktails. As the night drew to a close, guests indulged in a sweet finale at the candy bar, capping off an unforgettable evening filled with laughter, camaraderie, and generosity.
But beyond the entertainment and ambiance, the heart of the event was saddled in its purpose: raising funds to support families in need. Thanks to the generosity of our attendees, sponsors, and supporters, we were able to raise an astounding $328,000 – an incredible amount that will make a tangible difference in the lives of those we serve.
We had the privilege of sharing the evening with four Fred’s Footsteps families – people who have directly benefited from our support. Their stories, shared through a moving video presentation as well as “WANTED” posters in the main space, served as a powerful reminder of why our mission is so vital. And, we were honored to have CBS-3 Philadelphia cover our event, spreading awareness of our cause to a wider audience.
